Meet Su

Integrative Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner

Su hero image

Su is an integrative counsellor and EMDR practitioner who works with children, teenagers, young adults and adults, with particular experience supporting neurodivergent people.

Her work is shaped by the person in front of her rather than a single therapeutic method, helping people explore difficult experiences, understand themselves better and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Experience

Su has more than 20 years’ experience, beginning her career as a Carer and Youth Worker before progressing into counselling nine years ago.

She has specialist training in working therapeutically with children and young people, and holds a Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Cambridge.

Over the years, Su has supported people experiencing trauma-related difficulties including anxiety, stress, self-harm, depression and eating disorders. Neurodivergence has also been an important focus of her work, and she has a wealth of experience in supporting children, young people and adults with a range of needs.

She’s also qualified to provide Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to children and adults, completing her training with EMDR Academy and The Purple House Clinic through EMDR Association UK-accredited training providers.

Su's approach

Su believes therapy works best when there is room to respond to the individual rather than follow a fixed formula.

Relationships are central to her work. She helps people look at patterns in how they relate to themselves and others, understand where those patterns may come from and consider what they might want to change.

Her integrative training means she can draw on different ways of working depending on what feels most useful, while EMDR offers an additional option where appropriate. Its suitability is considered carefully according to each person’s needs, experiences and readiness.
