Phoebe is a warm, thoughtful and compassionate psychodynamic counsellor who works with children, teenagers and young adults.

She has particular experience supporting young people with additional needs and more complex mental health difficulties, bringing patience, understanding and an adaptable approach to her work.

Experience

Phoebe holds a BA in Therapeutic Communications and Therapeutic Organisations and an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy from the University of Essex.

She has more than 10 years’ experience in mental health support work, including intensive one-to-one support for young people returning to the community after inpatient hospital care and significant periods of mental health difficulty.

Alongside this, Phoebe works in secondary schools as a one-to-one learning support assistant, helping young people with a broad range of emotional, learning and physical needs. She also creates and delivers targeted support for students with SEMH and SEND needs.

She has extensive experience working with neurodivergent young people, including those with autism, ADHD and learning difficulties, as well as people with physical disabilities and more complex support needs.

Phoebe joined Teenage Mental Health in 2022, during the final stage of her postgraduate training. Since then, she’s worked with young people from early adolescence through to those approaching adulthood, supporting young people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, difficulties managing emotions, neurodivergence-related challenges and wider mental health concerns.

Phoebe’s approach

Phoebe believes therapy should feel safe, accepting and collaborative. She takes time to understand the individual, adapting the way she works to their communication style, needs and stage of development.

She is particularly thoughtful when working with young people who may previously have struggled to feel understood or comfortable in other settings, helping them build confidence and a better understanding of themselves over time.
