Meet Lisa

Therapeutic Support Group Facilitator

Lisa Hero Image

Lisa plays an important role in our TMH Parent Support Groups, helping to create a warm and welcoming environment for parents and carers attending the sessions.

She’s currently completing the final stages of her MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Lisa understands that when a young person is struggling, the impact can be felt across the whole family, which is why she believes parents and carers need support too.

Experience

Co-facilitating our Parent Support Groups alongside the wider team, Lisa gives parents and carers a place to talk openly, gain guidance and connect with others facing similar challenges.

She previously completed a BA (Hons) in Therapeutic Communication and Therapeutic Organisations and is now continuing her training in counselling and psychotherapy.

With a background in education, Lisa’s worked with children, young people and adults across different stages of learning and life. This includes supporting people affected by attachment difficulties, trauma and neurodivergence, giving her a strong understanding of some of the challenges families may face.

She particularly values the way parent groups can help people feel less alone, share experiences and better understand what their child may be going through.

Qualifications and training
  • MA Counselling and Psychotherapy (in progress)
  • BA (Hons) Therapeutic Communication and Therapeutic Organisations
  • Student Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • Training in Safeguarding, SEND Awareness and Trauma Perception

Lisa’s approach

Lisa believes every child is different and that taking time to understand their unique experiences is an important part of supporting both them and the people around them.

She knows that talking about difficulties can feel daunting, so she brings a calm, friendly and non-judgemental approach to sessions, helping parents and carers feel comfortable enough to speak openly and learn from one another.
