Meet Ellie

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist and Clinical Lead

Ellie’s a warm, thoughtful and compassionate psychodynamic counsellor who works with children, teenagers and adults.

Alongside her psychodynamic approach, she also draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, particularly when working with anxiety, intrusive thoughts, phobias and OCD-related difficulties.

Experience

Ellie completed her MA in Psychodynamic Counselling with Children and Young People at the University of Essex in 2020, achieving a distinction. Before this, she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Person-Centred Counselling at the University of East Anglia.

Before moving fully into therapeutic practice, she worked across secondary, further and higher education. Supporting young people with both their learning and emotional wellbeing gave her a strong understanding of the pressures they can experience at school, in relationships and as they move towards adulthood.

Ellie has experience supporting clients with a broad range of difficulties, including anxiety, burnout, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, bereavement, loneliness, relationship problems and questions around gender and identity.

She also sees children, teenagers and adults in private practice, both in person and online.

Continued professional development is important to Ellie, and she became an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 2025.

Ellie’s approach

Ellie believes that how we think, feel and relate to other people can be shaped by experiences and patterns we may not immediately recognise. Therapy can help bring these patterns to light and explain why certain thoughts, feelings or situations affect us the way they do.

Her style is calm, compassionate and collaborative. She knows that reaching out for support can feel like a big step and works at a pace that feels manageable for each person.

She adapts her approach to the individual, combining exploration of underlying experiences with more practical techniques where they may be useful. Her aim is to help people understand themselves more deeply and feel better able to manage the difficulties they’re facing.
