Meet Charlie

Head Receptionist and Administrative Lead

Charlie has been part of Teenage Mental Health since its early days and is often one of the first people clients, parents and professionals speak to.

Managing reception and administration, Charlie brings creativity and humour to his role, helping people feel welcome, reassured and comfortable.

Experience

He originally trained as a musician, earning a degree in Popular Music from University Centre Colchester before going on to work in both performance and education. His experience includes working as a therapeutic music educator, as well as touring professionally.

Since joining TMH in 2019, Charlie has overseen many of the day-to-day systems and processes that help us function effectively. He manages enquiries, supports families, coordinates schedules and plays a central role within the team.

Alongside this, Charlie has spent several years developing his understanding of therapy through psychodynamic and counselling-based training. He plans to begin formal therapist training in the next academic year.

Outside of TMH, Charlie’s interests include knitting, Viking reenactment and martial arts.

Charlie’s approach

Charlie knows that reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially when a young person or family is already dealing with a difficult situation. He tries to make that first contact as straightforward, welcoming and reassuring as possible.

His style is calm, approachable and organised, with warmth and humour helping people feel at ease. Whether coordinating appointments or supporting the wider clinical team, Charlie helps make sure people know what’s happening and what comes next.
